Our Wedding Part One

So it's been eight months since we tied the knot an it has taken that whole time for me to finally sit down and share the details of our special day, but as they say, better late than never!
To be honest, we have been so busy this first half of the year, we only just went through our wedding photos a few weeks ago- CRINGE - how awful is that!
We wanted our Wedding to be intimate, laid back and relaxed, we are not into showy or over the top kind of stuff, and wanted our special day to be a reflection of who we are, as well as a place to celebrate in a relaxed environment, so it made sense when we were searching for the perfect venue to choose Stones of The Yarra Valley.
The Yarra Valley is a very special place to me in particular, I spent several months In the Valley volunteering during the black Saturday bushfires, and the day we went to visit Stones was the first time I had returned to this magical place since then, it was emotionally overwhelming to see the Valley alive and thriving again, especially after such devastation and loss the last time I was there. I feel so connected to The Yarra Valley, and it really holds a special place in my heart.
Mika is a horticulturalist by trade,  so nature, greenery and the great outdoors is something we both love,  and we knew that getting hitched in a church or similar (while a great option for some) it just wasn't our style.
We wanted to get married under the canopy of a big, glorious tree, and we found it at Stones, a stunning Oak tree stood calm and stoic above us as we said our I dos and our guests casually gathered around with a glass of wine in hand, as the sun shone upon us.
It was perfect.
With my two stunning bridesmaids by my side, our dearest friends and family,  and my gorgeous step father making the journey all the way from in Hong Kong to walk me down the aisle to give me away, and the man of my dreams waiting under that big oak tree, it really couldn't of gotten any better! (aww too mushy?!) oh well, weddings are!

Our ceremony was short and sweet, and a little bit cheekie and there were lots of laughs and happy tears!

We lapped up the bubbles and soaked up the sun,, then it was off to celebrate and have photos with our stunning bridal party before our reception commenced! Stay tuned for part two where I'll share with you our gorgeous reception in the barn.

Much Love,

Lauren xx
